Springtime in the French Countryside!

‘Twas the Night before the Paris Book Fair and… I’ll spare you my rhymes. I was never a very good poet!

If you are in the Paris area, please stop by and see me at the Salon du Livre this weekend. I will be at the “Mariposa and U.S. Publishers” stand (S76) on Friday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and on Monday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

As I’m preparing for the book fair today, I figured I would keep this post short on words but long on photos that spell springtime. It is the first day of spring after all. Finally!

This past weekend, we visited family in the town of Crecy-La-Chapelle, the “Venice” of the county called Seine et Marne. It is called as such because much of the village is built right along the river. A claim to fame? The painter Corot once lived there.

Here is the story in pictures...

View of the Grand Morin River

Me, smiling because we no longer have to wash clothes at the "lavoir" along the river!

A lovely passage

The plaque on Corot's house

Those little white dots are geese enjoying the warm weather!

The town church, a view through the trees!

Our aunt's delicious floating islands for dessert. Sunshine in the plate!

    1. Thanks, Vicki! After hours at the computer, I figure it's good to pry myself away from it and go out and about... Hopefully the weather will cooperate this week. Love taking photos in the sunshine!

  3. 'Paris' and 'Book fair' in the same sentence made my heart skip a few beats. It looks like you had a lovely weekend, and I do not know of these floating islands, but they look amazing. (Do you cook? You should totally do a cooking post on those!)

    Thanks for linking up!

    1. Thanks, April! I'm actually going to do a book fair post so I'll link it next week... The floating islands were wonderful! I don't cook, but my husband does and actually has a food website (foodme.fr). Maybe I'll ask him to guest post... :)
